Tour the Melba Highway wineries with a Wild Wombat

10.00am to 4.00pm

On every Wild Wombat Wine Tour there is a wombat mascot who accompanies you on the bus. He advises the driver on where to go, clever short cuts to take, where’s best for cellar door tastings right now – you see, wild wombats always have their nose to the ground so they always have the latest most up-to-date information.

Today we’ll visit four of the best smaller wineries we’ve sniffed out, situated off the Melba Highway.  We’ll start at

#         Greenstone Vineyards with one of the most amazing views of the Yarra Valley and you can be the first to try their wines, they’ve only just taken over from Sticks Winery, so they are the Valley’s newest offering.

#          Immerse Winery where we’ll have a sumptuous lunch before heading off to family owned

#          Yileena Park, (pictured) where in addition to great wines and views, you’ll get to try their house smoked salt, olives, nuts, mustard, olive oil, red wine vinegar and cheeses.

#          Acacia Ridge is the last winery of the day, where we’ll meet and taste wine with 81 year old owner Gavan Oakley, ex dentist now winemaker. You’ll feel you’re stepping back in time as we enjoy a wine tasting in the tiny miner’s cottage which is their cellar door.

Then we’ll drop you back to where you’re staying shortly after 4pm.  You’ll sleep well that night!  What a great sounding day.

And all this for just $110 per person.
