Tour the Coldstream Trail wineries with a Wild Wombat
10.00am to 4.00pm
On every Wild Wombat Wine Tour there is a wombat mascot who accompanies you on the bus. He advises the driver on where to go, clever short cuts to take, where’s best for cellar door tastings right now – you see, wild wombat’s always have their nose to the ground so they always have the latest most up-to-date information.
On this tour we’ll visit four of the best smaller wineries we’ve sniffed out, situated on what has recently been named the Coldstream Trail. Famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon, there’s no better place to start our tour than at historic –
# St Hubert’s winery, one of the oldest of the region’s wineries, founded in 1862 by Swiss migrant Hubert de Castella.
# Coldstream Brewery where we’ll have a sumptuous lunch … and then we head up the road to
# Coombe Estate, Dame Nellie Melba’s former home, only opened to the public a year ago, the restored motor house and clock tower (pictured) make a beautiful backdrop for us to enjoy our cellar door tastings, and learn more about the grand Dame herself.
Their staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, it’s a favourite stop of ours on tours.
# Punt Road winery is the next stop where if the sun’s shining we can enjoy our wine tasting while having a quick game of bocce out on the lawn!
By then, you’ll no doubt be exhausted, so we’ll drop you back to wherever you’re staying. What a great sounding day.
And all this for just $110 per person.
